How To Rundown the Clock When You Refuse to Get Out of Bed

Remember the days when we wanted to spend more time at home? Well, 2020 rolled in and changed that. We now find ourselves with days (or weeks depending on the source) to wander our apartments like Sims looking for stuff to do. While most of us automatically reached for streaming services to fill our days even the most seasoned bingers might need to mix it up a bit. Here are my highlights from this first week of self-quarantine/social distancing/weird situation (and only one is an actual TV show):

A Black Lady Sketch Show

A Black Lady Sketch Show was a good time when it debuted on HBO last year. Not only did it bring in ridiculously impressive guest stars but it also allowed black women to be funny which seems to be a hard concept for most of the media we consume. Led by Robin Thede, Ashley Nicole Black, Gabrielle Dennis, and Quinta Brunson we get a ton of hysterical sketches that are broken up by four women trapped in a house after some world-changing event has occurred. #Becauseofthetimes this is worth a revisit for those of us that have already seen it and should be one of the things added to the list of binges for those of you who have not.

Rufus Wainwright’s Bathrobe Sessions

Rufus Wainwright is giving us concerts from his Hollywood mansion while wearing his favorite bathrobes. Rufus admits that he’s figuring it out as he goes and he definitely stepped up the production quality after the first video appeared. Before logging into his Facebook account for the second video he got his piano tuned and switched into what I assume is his power robe. He does one song a day and seems to be taking requests which is why I’m confused that the request line/thread/whatever hasn’t led us to hear “Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk” or “14th Street” yet. I question this daily but refuse to stop tuning in.
